2015: Nashville Rowing Performs at Dogwood Regatta

Oak Ridge, TN (Apr 25-26, 2015) -- Friday morning the Nashville Rowing trailer rolled into Oak Ridge TN to claim our spot for a weekend of racing for the 2015 Dogwood Regatta. The Juniors would be the first to arrive on site to rig and practice on the course, before returning to the hotel to rest before a long day of racing on Saturday. The weather gods smiled on us with great water and none of the previously predicted thunderstorms (making up for TN Sprint Series #3), making for a great day of racing Saturday. Every one of our Junior boat entries posted a time strong enough in their heats to put them into the finals of their respective events. Perhaps the best part of Saturday's racing was the chance to see some highly competitive boats from other clubs that pushed our rowers to race harder than they have all season! The medalling results from Saturday are as follows:

  • Women's Varsity 4+: Bronze
  • Women's 2nd Varsity 4+: Bronze
  • Women's Varsity 2- A: Gold
  • Women's Varsity 2- B: Silver
  • Women's Novice 4+: Gold

After a very windy Saturday evening, the coaches returned to the course for Day #2 of racing. The Masters arrived to beautiful racing conditions to begin their day, and would race everything from singles up to eights. Even though our trailer spot may have been a little on the muddy side, the water was flat, and provided the platform for a lot of strong performances by our Nashville boats. The Masters faced some new competition as well from a number of strong programs, which is exactly what they needed going into the stretch before Masters Southeast Regionals. Now it is just a matter of building on the speed expressed this Sunday in the coming weeks. The medalling results from Sunday are as follows:

  • Mixed Masters 4x: Gold
  • Mixed Masters 2x: Gold
  • Men's Masters 1x: Gold
  • Men's Masters 8+: Gold
  • Men's Masters 4+: Bronze
  • Women's Masters 4+: Bronze
  • Women's Masters 2x: Silver
  • Men's Masters 8+: Silver

Congratulations to all the athletes that came out to put on their Nashville unisuits to race this weekend. A special thanks to all the parents and spectators who cheered everyone on from the shore, you all help to make our family what it is!
