Saturday April 26, 2014 (Oak Ridge, TN) - Nashville Rowing entered the Dogwood Regatta with high hopes, coming off of an early season filled with progress and improvement.

The Juniors Program, which has grown to over 45 athletes strong, has spent April working through the concepts necessary to be successful over time – and the it’s starting to show. Beyond just having all our High School boats entered, the Juniors line-ups rowed to the following places and medals:

4th in the Women’s 2nd Novice 8+
2nd (Silver) in the Women’s 1st Novice 8+
3rd (Bronze) in the Men’s 1st Novice 4+
1st in their Heat & 4th in the Final of the Women’s Varsity 4+
4th in their Heat of the Men’s Varsity 4+
4th in the Men’s 1st Novice 8+
3rd (Bronze) in the Women’s 1st Novice 4+

“Our athletes are beginning to find consistency in their rowing and racing which is a huge step for novices. Now, we are looking for each boat to begin reaching their desired goals on a weekly basis,” exclaimed Head Coach Eric Gehrke when asked about the Juniors races, “I believe today, all our boats finished within one place of where we thought they would, which is a nice start – now we need to start exceeding expectations and rising above our roles.”

The Adult side of Nashville Rowing also found success come their way, earning medals in both the Open category, against colleges, and the Masters categories. "I am definitely very proud of how the Adult side of our programs handled themselves today," Coach Gehrke was heard saying, "We were here two weeks ago and found ourselves faced with adversity and results we were not proud of, and it is good to see everyone rally together to flip this performance in the other direction."

The Adult crews that placed or earned medals were:

3rd for Don Sullivan in the Men's Masters 1x (Flight)
1st in the Women's Masters 4+ (Flight)
3rd (Bronze) in the Women's Masters 2x (Composite)
1st (Gold) in the Women's Open 4+
1st and 4th in the Men's Masters 4+ (Flights)
